Bottle and breast pump cleaning planner
A small plan for the parts that do a lot. Choose your equipment and washing method to organise what to do after use, each day and before storing.
Based on US CDC guidance for home use. Follow your equipment manufacturer’s instructions and your care team’s advice. This plan cannot verify that anything is clean, sterile or safe.
Your cleaning routine
Tick steps as a personal reminder. Ticks do not certify cleanliness, sterility or safety. Building a new routine clears the ticks.

Keep these basics in every routine
- Clean bottles after every feeding, and milk-contact pump parts as soon as possible after every use. Refrigerating or wiping used parts is not a proven substitute for cleaning.
- Clean before sanitising. Daily sanitising is especially important for babies under 2 months, babies born prematurely and those with weakened immunity. Older healthy babies may not need it daily if parts are carefully cleaned each time.
- An allowed dishwasher cycle using hot water and heated drying, or a sanitising setting, removes the need for a separate sanitising step. Follow the manufacturer’s loading and cycle instructions.
- Let parts air-dry completely in a clean area before storage. Do not rub or pat them dry with a towel. Inspect for damage and replace parts as directed.
