A closer look at your baby’s sleep space
Look at the sleep space, then mark what you observe. Use this as a conversation starter with everyone who cares for your baby.
For babies under 1 year. Based on US NICHD guidance, not a complete inspection or medical advice. This cannot certify a product, predict SIDS or guarantee safety. Ask your baby’s clinician about individual needs and follow local product standards.
Take another look
You have not marked anything for follow-up.
This is not a safety result. Recheck the space before every sleep; a completed list cannot remove all sleep-related risks.
Keep these details in mind
- Share your room, not your bed, for at least the first 6 months. Put the baby’s separate sleep space near your bed.
- Always start sleep on the back. Once baby rolls both ways independently, you can leave them in the position they choose. Ask your clinician if unsure.
- Stop swaddling at the first signs of trying to roll. Do not wait for a completed roll.
- Car seats, pushchairs and carriers are not regular sleep spaces. If baby falls asleep there, transfer them to their usual sleep space as soon as possible. During car travel, keep baby securely buckled in the car seat; transfer them after the journey.
